In the Company of the Qur'an - An Explanation of Surah al-Kahf
This is the inaugural volume of what is intended to be a commentary on the entire Qur'an, to fulfill the author's life-long intention to complete a traditionally grounded modern tafsir written in English for a Western Muslim audience. This first volume discusses one of the Quran’s most frequently-read sūrahs. Drawing from classical scholarship, modern reflections, and a clear, concise writing style, Dr. Furhan illuminates the depth and beauty of Sūrah al-Kahf—making it accessible for readers of all backgrounds.
Inside this volume, readers will discover the timeless lessons from the famous “People of the Cave,” who courageously stood firm in their faith, seeking divine protection in a miraculous slumber. Dr. Furhan also discusses how this chapter teaches the fleeting nature of worldly life through vivid imagery and reminders that everything around us is temporary. Dr. Furhan’s unique style seamlessly blends context, linguistic insights, and moral teachings, allowing readers to engage with Sūrah al-Kahf on multiple levels.
In the Company of the Quran – An Explanation of Sūrah al-Kahf extends beyond mere linguistic or historical background. Instead, Shaykh Dr. Furhan Zubairi connects each verse’s enduring relevance to modern challenges, offering practical reflections on worship, relationships, personal conduct, and moral integrity. By weaving scholarly sources with relatable examples, he makes a deeper understanding of the text accessible to all audiences.
